ABOUT
The French Table opened in June 2001 and is run by husband and wife team Eric and Sarah Guignard. It was their aim to provide the very best food and service of the highest standard to a local clientele in a warm and relaxed environment. This is an on going passion that continues every day.
Eric, born in France was trained in Paris and has worked at many Michelin starred restaurants including Jules Verne, Jacques Cagnat, the Orient Express and the Capital Hotel in London. His cuisine is French/Mediterranean in style, with influences coming from the South of France, Italy and Northern Africa. Flavours are delicate never over-powering, yet his pork belly is certainly full-flavoured and robust. The menu changes frequently to meet the demands of the strong local clientele who like to dine on a regular basis.
Sarah runs the front of house, with the service being warm and friendly, professional but never obtrusive. It is of up most importance that the numerous loyal customers who return time after time are made to feel welcome and at ease and that the ambience created is relaxed.
Since opening, the French Table has enjoyed huge popularity locally and received rave reviews, including being nominated for ‘Best Local Restaurant’ by Timeout in 2002.
